Question 1

What is AMC in software?

Accepted Answer

AMC in software has two meanings. It can be an annual maintenance contract for a software product, covering updates and support for a yearly fee. It can also mean AMC management software: a tool that service businesses use to record their AMC contracts, schedule visits and send renewal reminders.

Question 2

Can a device be under warranty and an AMC at the same time?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The manufacturer's warranty covers manufacturing defects, while the AMC covers scheduled servicing and the repairs listed in the contract. Many service businesses start the AMC before the warranty ends, so a defect still goes to the manufacturer and routine servicing comes to them.

Question 3

What happens when an AMC contract expires?

Accepted Answer

Once the end date passes without renewal, the provider no longer owes the covered visits, labour or parts. Any service after that is charged like a normal repair until a new contract is signed. Some providers inspect the device again before they renew a lapsed AMC.

Question 4

What is the difference between comprehensive and non-comprehensive AMC?

Accepted Answer

A non-comprehensive AMC covers scheduled visits and labour, and the customer pays separately for any spare part that is replaced. A comprehensive AMC also covers the spare parts listed in the contract, so it costs more. Both usually exclude physical damage, liquid damage and misuse.

Question 5

What is an AMC contract?

Accepted Answer

An AMC contract (annual maintenance contract) is a paid agreement in which a service provider looks after a customer's devices for a fixed term, usually one year. It normally lists the devices covered, the number of scheduled service visits, the response time for breakdown calls, what is excluded, the payment terms and the renewal date.

Question 6

Is BytePhase a repair shop CRM?

Accepted Answer

Yes. BytePhase is repair shop management software with a built-in CRM: customer and device history, job tracking, invoicing, spare-parts stock and automatic WhatsApp and SMS updates, on the web and in native Android and iOS apps. It is used by 2,000+ repair businesses in 40+ countries, and you can try it for 15 days.

Question 7

What is a repair shop CRM?

Accepted Answer

A repair shop CRM is customer relationship management built around devices and repair jobs instead of sales pipelines. Next to each customer’s contact details it keeps their devices, repair history, job status, invoices and warranty, and sends status updates by WhatsApp, SMS or email so customers do not have to call the shop to ask.

Question 8

Can I change from Businesses to Branches later?

Accepted Answer

You can add a Business later if your plan allows it, but existing bills and other records cannot be moved between Businesses or Branches. Choose the right structure before you start billing.

Question 9

Should I create a Business for each physical location?

Accepted Answer

No. A Business is not a location. If you run different physical shops, use Branches on the Enterprise plan.

Question 10

Can each Business have its own tax number?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each Business can have its own tax registration details, or it can be a business that does not add tax to its bills. Tax rules depend on your actual business structure and ownership, so confirm your setup with your accountant.
