Do barcode scanners need any setup?

Generally no. Most USB handheld barcode scanners work as plug-and-play keyboard devices: you plug the scanner in, click into the search or item field in BytePhase, and scan. The scanned code arrives exactly as if it had been typed, so no driver or configuration is normally needed.
