Shops in other countries connect their own Twilio or BulkGate account instead and set it as the primary SMS provider, after which every SMS goes through that account.

Yes, for shops in India. When no SMS integration is active and marked as primary, BytePhase sends your SMS through Gupshup automatically and draws on your BytePhase SMS balance. If you later make Twilio or BulkGate your primary provider, your SMS go through that account instead, and only one SMS provider is primary at a time.

For shops in India, BytePhase replaces your currency symbol with ‘Rs. ‘ in every SMS before it goes out, to keep messages within India’s DLT rules. For the same reason, the SMS signature you can set in BytePhase is not added to SMS from shops in India; it is only appended to SMS sent by shops outside India.

It is skipped, not sent. BytePhase checks your SMS balance before each message and, when it is at zero, records that SMS as skipped for lack of credits.
